‚Äč Who Needs Sleep??? By the Barenaked Ladies







Introduction:
Sleeping is the naturally recurring state of relatively suspended sensory and motor activity.

Sleeping is separated in to 2 categories, Non-Rapid Eye Movement (NREM), and Rapid Eye Movement (REM). NREM is then further separated into 3 stages, Stage N1, Stage N2, and Stage N3.

Sleeping is timed by the circadian clock, sleep-wake homeostasis, and sometimes in humans, the power of will. The circadian clock, controls inner timekeeping, temperature, and enzymes. It works with adenosine, a neurotransmitter that prevents lots of the bodily functions that you do during the day. Adenosine is being produced throughout the day, but higher levels make you sleepy.
