Common Basketball Injuries

Some common basketball injuries include:

Ankle Injuries:

Ankle Sprain
Achilles Tendonitis

Knee Injuries:
Patella Tendonitis (Jumpers Knee)
Knee Cartilage Injuries
Knee Ligament Injuries

Leg Injuries:
Hamstring Strain
Shin Splints

All of these injuries can be limited if you warm-up before playing or running. You can also wear protection. Basketball players often wear knee pads and ankle braces. Some players who have a history of jamming their fingers wear finger braces like Kevin Garnett. Some players with history of pulling or straining their hamstrings will wear hamstring braces. Some players who dislocate their shoulders will wear a brace to help prevent that as Ashely Ellis-Milan does. Some other players, like Lawrence Westbrook, wear elbow protection.
